A Day to Remember
In Japan, Tenkara has been used for hundreds of years to fish in small, high gradient mountain streams.
In Utah, these types of "Tenkara Streams" are plentiful; however, they are very difficult to fish. This difficulty is mainly due to the terrain. Luckily, Nathan was an Army Officer and graduate of the Army Reconnaissance Course. Difficult terrain was his specialty!

We are excited to show you this wonderful hobby and teach you how to fish these Tenkara Streams. A word to the wise: while we offer tailored trips based on ability and desire, Utah Tenkara Guide specializes in guiding people through difficult terrain. This will be an expedition that challenges you physically through the many small streams which criss-cross our state. We are excited to share this adventure!
A Tailored Experience for All
As Tenkara guides, we know that you'll have a blast exploring a new sport and opening yourself up to new adventures! Since many Tenkara Streams are difficult to fish, we will contact you after booking to get an idea of what type of streams you desire to learn about, your physical ability, and proximity to where we are fishing. Don't worry, while many of the streams are challenging, all ages and all experience levels are welcome! We recently guided some elderly men (late 70s) in a Utah Tenkara stream and they all reported loving the challenge and catching these beautiful fish!
We Provide All Equipment
You won't have to worry about not being prepared. We provide everything you need to get you started on the right foot (rod, flies, etc.). The only thing you need to bring is yourself, a good pair of boots, some water/food, and a valid fishing license! We will send a confirmation email once you book your adventure with recommended clothing and gear to wear.
